Representative Lynn visits schools for “Legislators Back to School Week”
Representative Susan Lynn (R-Mount Juliet) today announced that she will visit schools in both Wilson and Sumner counties as part of the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) Legislators Back to School Week. NCSL’s annual “America’s Legislators Back to School Week” is September 19-23.
"I enjoy the opportunity to talk to students about how representative democracy works, and the role they play as citizens participating in our great nation," said Rep. Lynn. "Illustrating for students how important it is to listen to people in order to correctly identify a problem and then come up with a solution is very exciting. It is a skill that everyone needs in life; not just lawmakers.”
America's Legislators Back to School Week is a bipartisan event designed to teach young people about the processes, pressures, debate, negotiation and compromise that are involved in the legislative process. The program is a product of NCSL's civic education initiative, the Trust for Representative Democracy. “Based on the ideas and fundamental principles set forth by the framers of the Constitution, the Trust is designed to engage young people and build their understanding and support for our Republic” Said Lynn.
Rep. Lynn is scheduled to visit Rutland Elementary School, Stoner Creek Elementary School, W.A. Wright Elementary School, Wilson Central High School, and Mount Juliet High School in Mt. Juliet, T.W. Hunter Middle School, and Jack Anderson Elementary School in Hendersonville.
Lynn serves the 57th District in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes portions of Wilson and Sumner Counties. Lynn serves on the Commerce and Government Operations Committees.
