Lynn Appointed to ALEC National Task Force

Nashville – Last week State Representative Susan Lynn received the honor of being appointed as one of three Tennessee representatives to the American Legislative Exchange Council’s National Task Force on Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is an association for conservative state lawmakers who share a common belief in limited government, free markets, federalism, and individual liberty. The association was formed more than a quarter century ago to develop and promote policies that reflect the Jeffersonian principles that the powers of government are derived from, and assigned to, first the People, then the States, and finally the National Government.
ALEC's National Task Forces serve as public policy laboratories where members develop model legislation to use across the country. Task Forces also commission research, publish issue papers, convene workshops and issue briefings, and serve as clearinghouses of information on free market policies in the states.
“I am truly honored to receive this appointment. I bear in mind that I not only represent my constituency on this task force but my colleagues in the Tennessee Legislature as well. I believe in conservative, free market principles and I am delighted to be granted the opportunity to have a voice in forming model legislation for our states that reflect such ideology” said Lynn.
ALEC Task Force members are legislators who work with private sector counterparts to solve the challenges facing the nation. The results are the policies that will define the American political landscape well into the 21st century. To date, ALEC has considered, written and approved hundreds of model bills, resolutions and policy statements.
Lynn further stated that “I think I received this appointment because I truly believe that economic freedom is the cornerstone of our prosperity and our political freedom. The Task Force that I will serve on develops policies that enhance competitiveness, promote employment and economic prosperity, encourage innovation and increased efficiency, and limit the regulation that government imposes upon business.”
Representative Lynn serves House District 57, which consists of part of Sumner and Wilson Counties. She is serving in her second term in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Her work includes serving on the House Commerce Committee, House Government Operations Committee.
